In the last 40 years our federal and state governments have spent over $1 trillion on “The War on Drugs” and currently spend more than $51 billion every year on this same bullshit. And guess who foots the bill, kids. That’s right: you and me. In fact, in 2013 (the most recent year for which we have data), you and I helped arrest 1.5 million people for nonviolent drug offenses. Almost 700,000 of those arrests were for marijuana alone.
